BAUMR-AG 135L vs 140L Cement Mixer

The BAUMR-AG 135L and CMS-14 140L are both corded electric rotating-drum cement mixers, but they are not simply the same machine with a five-litre difference.

The 135L uses an 800W motor, a 566mm steel drum and pneumatic tyres. The newer CMS-14 140L uses a 550W motor, the same published 566mm drum diameter, solid 10-inch wheels and includes a pedestal stand.

Quick comparison: The 135L provides the higher published motor wattage and has a confirmed 385mm drum opening. The CMS-14 140L provides a pedestal stand, known assembled dimensions and a standard 240V 10A plug. Do not choose between them purely because 140L is five litres larger.

135L vs 140L Does Not Mean Batch Size

This is one of the most important points when buying a cement mixer.

A drum labelled 135L or 140L should not automatically be interpreted as meaning that you should load that exact volume of wet concrete into each batch.

The ingredients need free space inside the rotating drum so they can lift, fall and mix.

Actual usable batch size depends on:

  • aggregate size
  • concrete or mortar mix
  • water content
  • material weight
  • drum angle
  • manufacturer loading limits
Important: Firebusters could not verify a separate official maximum wet-mix batch volume or batch weight for either current model. Do not assume 135L or 140L represents the recommended finished-concrete batch.

Is the 140L Really Much Larger?

Not necessarily.

Both current specifications list a 566mm drum diameter.

The published nominal capacity increases from 135L to 140L — a difference of only five litres.

The more important differences are actually:

  • 800W versus 550W motor rating
  • 26.6rpm versus 32rpm drum speed
  • pneumatic versus solid tyres
  • pedestal stand on the CMS-14
  • different frame and tipping arrangements

Does the 800W 135L Automatically Mix More?

No.

The 135L has a higher published motor wattage than the 140L, but wattage alone does not establish useful batch capacity, durability or mixing quality.

Motor gearing, drum speed, blade shape and loading all affect how a mixer performs.

Similarly, the CMS-14’s 550W rating should not automatically be treated as inferior simply because the number is lower.

The 140L Pedestal Stand

The CMS-14 includes a pedestal stand that raises the mixer for discharge into compatible wheelbarrows, buckets or raised work areas.

This can be useful where the discharge height matches your normal workflow.

However, the complete unit measures approximately 139cm high with the stand, so check storage height and available working space before ordering.

Pneumatic vs Solid Wheels

135L Pneumatic Tyres

Pneumatic tyres can absorb some surface irregularities when moving the mixer around a site.

They also introduce tyre-pressure and puncture maintenance.

140L Solid Rubber Wheels

The CMS-14 uses 10-inch solid rubber wheels.

These avoid punctures but can transmit more vibration over rough surfaces.

Neither wheel arrangement means the mixer should be moved while loaded with concrete unless specifically permitted by the manufacturer.

Drum Opening

The 135L has a published drum-mouth diameter of 385mm.

This is useful when loading materials by shovel or bucket.

The current CMS-14 specification does not publish an exact mouth diameter.

If drum-opening size matters to your batching setup, confirm it directly with the supplier rather than assuming it is the same as the 135L.

Electrical Supply

The CMS-14 specification clearly states:

  • 240V operation
  • 10A Australian-standard plug
  • 550W motor

The current 135L listing states an 800W corded-electric motor and an Australian-standard plug.

Always check the rating plate on the machine supplied.

Use electrical equipment through a suitable supply and protection arrangement for the worksite.

Do not operate with damaged leads, plugs or switches.

Water and Electrical Equipment

The 135L supplier states that its controls are IP55 rated.

That statement applies to the rated controls and should not be interpreted as meaning the entire mixer is waterproof.

The CMS-14 includes a protective motor cover intended to shield components from dust, debris and splashes.

Neither feature is a reason to deliberately operate an electric mixer in unsafe wet conditions.

Assembly

Both mixers require owner assembly.

The CMS-14 package includes the mixer and pedestal stand, with the current manual available online.

The 135L package includes the mixer and user manual.

Firebusters has not found a current official assembly-time figure, so we have not repeated estimates such as “40–60 minutes”.

Assembly time will depend on experience, tools and whether another person assists with handling larger components.

Handling and Weight

These are not lightweight parcels.

  • 135L: approximately 51kg gross packaged weight
  • 140L: approximately 56kg assembled product weight and 59kg packaged weight

Plan delivery, unpacking and assembly rather than assuming one person can safely lift an entire mixer.

Cleaning After Mixing

Concrete and mortar should not be allowed to harden inside the drum.

After use:

  • follow the manufacturer’s shutdown procedure
  • disconnect electrical power before maintenance where required
  • clean the drum before material cures
  • avoid directing water onto electrical components
  • inspect blades and drum for remaining hardened material

Do not reach into or work on the drum while the mixer can operate.

135L, 140L or 100L Pan Mixer?

The BAUMR-AG 100L pan mixer is a different style of machine and should not be confused with either of these rotating-drum mixers.

A drum mixer lifts material and allows it to tumble through the drum.

A pan mixer uses a different mixing arrangement within a stationary or differently configured vessel.

This means a 100L pan mixer is not automatically “smaller and weaker” simply because its litre figure is lower.

Choose between a drum mixer and pan mixer according to the material being mixed and the manufacturer’s intended use — not litre capacity alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 140L mixer much bigger than the 135L?

No. The nominal difference is only five litres, and both current specifications list a 566mm drum diameter.

Does a 140L mixer make 140L of concrete per batch?

Do not assume that. Firebusters could not verify a separate official recommended wet-batch capacity matching the total drum figure.

What is the 135L drum opening?

Approximately 385mm.

What is the 140L drum opening?

The current supplier specification does not state it.

Which has the larger motor?

The 135L has an 800W published motor compared with 550W for the CMS-14 140L.

What power does the CMS-14 need?

The current specification states 240V with a standard Australian 10A plug.

How heavy is the 140L model?

Approximately 56kg assembled, with a packaged weight of approximately 59kg.

How heavy is the 135L?

The current official listing gives a gross packaged weight of approximately 51kg. A separate assembled product weight is not clearly stated.

Does the 140L include its pedestal?

Yes. The current CMS-14 package includes the pedestal stand.

Are the mixers waterproof?

Do not treat either complete machine as waterproof. The 135L supplier specifically refers to IP55-rated controls, while the 140L has a protective motor cover.

How long do they take to assemble?

No reliable current manufacturer assembly-time figure was found. Assembly is required, and actual time will vary.

Final Assessment

The BAUMR-AG 135L and CMS-14 140L are closely sized electric drum mixers, but their practical differences are larger than the five-litre capacity gap suggests.

The 135L provides an 800W motor, 385mm drum opening, 26.6rpm drum speed and pneumatic wheels.

The CMS-14 140L provides a 550W motor, 32rpm drum speed, 10A 240V supply, solid wheels and an included pedestal stand.

Firebusters recommendation: do not choose the 140L simply because the nominal drum capacity is five litres larger. Compare the pedestal, motor, wheels, drum access, storage dimensions and electrical setup against how you actually intend to batch and discharge material.
