550 Lumens Is a Maximum, Not Sustained Output
This is one of the most useful specifications to understand before buying.
Olight’s published high-mode performance is approximately:
- 550 lumens: about 3 minutes
- 300 lumens: about another 30 minutes
- 55 lumens: about another 130 minutes
This automatic reduction helps explain why a small AA-powered torch can advertise 550 lumens without maintaining that output continuously.
For emergency planning, the 15-lumen low mode may actually be more important. Olight publishes a runtime of up to 54 hours using the supplied alkaline batteries under its test conditions.
Battery Compatibility Is Better Than the Draft Suggested
The i5T Plus uses two AA cells, not AAA batteries.
