RED TRACK Folding Gazebo Comparison for Australian Camping and Events
Portable gazebos are useful for camping, markets, sporting events, backyard gatherings and beach trips, but storage size can become a problem when a car or caravan is already packed with other equipment.
The RED TRACK ultra-compact range tackles that problem with two unusual folding gazebo sizes that both pack down to only about 93cm long.
This guide compares the traditional 3×3m square gazebo with the narrower 3.6×2.2m rectangular model.
Both weigh around 12kg in their standard no-wall versions, use steel folding frames with nylon joints and include a carry bag, pegs and guy ropes.
The important difference is the shape. The 3×3m provides a conventional 9m² square footprint, while the 3.6×2.2m model provides approximately 7.92m² in a longer, narrower layout.
Testing statement: Firebusters has not personally tested these gazebos. Specifications are based on current RED TRACK and Edisons product information checked in September 2026. Package contents, colours and model variants can change, so confirm the exact listing before purchase.
Quick Choice: 3×3m or 3.6×2.2m?
Better where you want a traditional square shelter, a 9m² footprint and a shape commonly used for markets, camping areas and backyard gatherings.
Better where a longer, narrower shelter fits beside a vehicle, caravan, table layout or restricted campsite more effectively than a square gazebo.
RED TRACK 3×3m Ultra-Compact Folding Gazebo
Traditional 9m² Square Layout
The 3×3m model provides the most familiar gazebo footprint while still packing down to only 93cm long.
- Open dimensions: approximately 3 × 3 × 2.6m
- Nominal floor area: 9m²
- Height under gazebo: up to approximately 190cm
- Folded size: 93 × 22 × 22cm
- Product weight: approximately 12kg
- Roof: Oxford weave
- Frame: steel with nylon joints
- Accessories: carry bag, pegs and guy ropes
- Side walls: not included with this standard model
The square footprint is probably the easier choice when you do not have a specific reason to choose the rectangular version. Three metres by three metres is also a familiar layout for many temporary event and market spaces.
The main attraction here is not huge floor area. It is obtaining a full-size 3×3m temporary shelter while reducing the packed length to less than a metre.
RED TRACK 3.6×2.2m Ultra-Compact Folding Gazebo
Longer, Narrower Rectangular Layout
The 3.6×2.2m model provides a different shape rather than simply increasing the total covered area.
- Open dimensions: approximately 3.6 × 2.2 × 1.9m
- Nominal floor area: approximately 7.92m²
- Height under gazebo: up to approximately 190cm
- Folded size: 93 × 20 × 24cm
- Product weight: approximately 12kg
- Roof: Oxford weave
- Frame: steel with nylon joints
- Accessories: carry bag, pegs and guy ropes
- Side walls: not included with this standard model
The narrower 2.2m dimension may be useful where a full 3m-wide shelter is awkward. It can sit more naturally beside some vehicles, caravans or rows of tables while still giving 3.6m of length.
The total covered floor area is actually slightly smaller than the 3×3m model, so buyers should choose it for the shape, not because 3.6m sounds larger.

Why the 93cm Folded Length Matters
Full-size gazebos can become awkward to transport because the collapsed frame can still be long.
Both of these RED TRACK models fold to approximately 93cm. That is the feature that most clearly separates them from many traditional folding shelters.
The compact length may make storage easier in:
- car boots;
- wagons and SUVs;
- ute tubs;
- caravan storage compartments;
- small sheds; and
- crowded camping setups.
Do not rely purely on the 93cm length, however. Measure the full packed dimensions against the storage opening you intend to use.
Setup: Carrying by One Person Does Not Mean Erecting Alone
The supplier describes these gazebos as easy for one person to transport because the standard models weigh about 12kg.
That should not be confused with the erection procedure.
With two people, opposite sides of the folding frame can be expanded more evenly. This reduces the temptation to drag or force one corner, which can place unnecessary load on folding joints and cross-members.
Choose level ground where possible, keep fingers clear of folding and sliding joints and do not fully extend the frame until both operators are ready.
Anchoring Is Not Optional
A gazebo canopy creates a large surface for wind to act on. Even modest gusts can generate significant forces on a lightweight temporary structure.
Both RED TRACK models include pegs and guy ropes. These should be treated as part of the shelter system rather than optional accessories.
On ordinary soil or grass, use suitable pegs and tension the guy ropes correctly.
On surfaces where pegs cannot be used, such as concrete, a different suitable anchoring or weighting system may be required. Markets and event organisers may also specify their own minimum weighting requirements.
At the beach, ordinary ground pegs may not hold effectively in loose sand, so an appropriate sand anchoring system may be needed.
No anchoring method turns a lightweight temporary gazebo into a storm-rated shelter. If conditions become unsuitable, pack it away.
Weather Resistance: What the Claims Actually Mean
The current supplier listings describe the canopy material as UV and water resistant.
That is useful information, but it should not be interpreted as a certified wind rating or a guarantee of protection during severe rain.
Firebusters found no published numerical wind-speed rating for these two ultra-compact models.
The supplier also states that the installer is responsible for deciding whether weather conditions are suitable and for securing the gazebo correctly.
If strong wind, thunderstorms or significant rain are expected, packing down early is safer than waiting for the gazebo to become difficult to control.
What About Side Walls?
The standard versions compared in this guide include the frame, canopy, carry bag, pegs and guy ropes but do not include side walls.
RED TRACK also sells wall-equipped versions and separate wall accessories for some models.
Side walls can be useful for:
- privacy;
- low-angle sunlight;
- market displays;
- screening one side of a campsite; and
- creating a more enclosed event area.
They can also catch additional wind, so users should be especially cautious as conditions change.
Do not assume walls pictured on another colour or bundle are included with the exact SKU you are ordering.
Camping Use
For camping, the biggest advantages are the compact packed length and comparatively low weight.
The 3×3m version provides more total floor area and gives a familiar square communal space for chairs, a table or cooking equipment where permitted.
The 3.6×2.2m model may be more convenient beside a vehicle or caravan where available width is restricted.
A gazebo should not be treated as a sleeping tent simply because walls can be fitted. These products are designed as temporary outdoor shelters rather than enclosed accommodation.
Keep open flames, cooking equipment and other heat sources positioned in accordance with both the gazebo instructions and appliance safety requirements.
Markets and Events
The 3×3m gazebo is likely to be the simpler option for many markets because a 3×3m stall space is a common event format in Australia.
That does not mean every organiser uses the same rules.
Before attending a market or event, check:
- allocated stall dimensions;
- gazebo anchoring requirements;
- permitted weights or pegs;
- side-wall restrictions;
- fire-safety requirements; and
- whether commercial-grade or certified structures are required.
The RED TRACK ultra-compact range is primarily attractive as lightweight temporary equipment. Where an organiser requires a certified commercial structure, these models may not be appropriate.
Square vs Rectangular: Think About the Furniture
One simple way to choose between the models is to sketch what needs to fit underneath.
A 3×3m square can be more flexible for chairs arranged around a table or a conventional market stall.
A 3.6×2.2m rectangle may suit:
- a long trestle table;
- a row of chairs;
- a narrow area beside a vehicle;
- equipment arranged lengthways; or
- a site where 3m of width is simply too much.
The rectangular gazebo is longer, but its total floor area is about 1.08m² less than the 3×3m version.
That is why comparing the footprint is more useful than comparing only the longest dimension.
Transport and Storage
Both standard versions weigh about 12kg, so carrying them from a vehicle to a campsite or event is relatively manageable compared with many larger commercial frames.
The supplied carry bag also helps keep the folded frame and canopy together during storage.
Before purchasing, consider:
- the opening size of your boot or storage compartment;
- where wet equipment will be carried after rain;
- whether the 12kg weight is comfortable for the intended user;
- space for pegs, ropes and optional walls; and
- how the gazebo will be secured during vehicle transport.
Care After Camping or Events
Do not pack a wet canopy away for long-term storage if it can be avoided.
Allow the fabric to dry, then inspect:
- canopy seams and fabric;
- steel frame members;
- folding joints;
- locking mechanisms;
- guy ropes;
- pegs; and
- the carry bag.
Salt air at coastal locations can accelerate corrosion. After beach use, clean off salt and sand where practical before storage.
Bent frame members or damaged joints should be repaired or replaced before the next setup rather than forced back into operation.
Gazebo Buyer Checklist
- Measure the area where the gazebo will normally be used.
- Measure your vehicle or storage compartment.
- Choose square or rectangular by layout, not just headline dimensions.
- Check the exact model colour and SKU.
- Confirm whether side walls are included.
- Check event organiser anchoring requirements.
- Plan anchoring for grass, sand or hard surfaces.
- Remember that two people are required for erection.
- Do not assume a published wind rating exists.
- Use it as a temporary, attended shelter.
Firebusters Practical Recommendation
Choose the RED TRACK 3×3m if you want the more versatile all-round footprint. It provides the larger floor area, works naturally with square tables or seating layouts and is closer to the conventional market-stall format.
Choose the 3.6×2.2m when its longer, narrower footprint solves a specific space problem beside a car, caravan, table or narrow campsite.
The strongest feature shared by both models is the 93cm folded length. That compact pack size is the main reason to consider them over a conventional full-length folding gazebo.
Frequently Asked Questions
How small do RED TRACK ultra-compact gazebos fold?
Both models in this comparison fold to approximately 93cm long.
How much do they weigh?
The standard 3×3m and 3.6×2.2m versions are both listed at approximately 12kg.
Which gazebo has more floor area?

Are side walls included?
Not with the standard versions compared here. Wall-equipped bundles and separate wall accessories are available for some variants.
Are the gazebos waterproof?
The supplier describes the canopy as water resistant. Firebusters found no published waterproof certification for these two models, so do not treat them as severe-weather shelters.
What wind speed can they handle?
No numerical wind-speed rating was found in the current product information reviewed for these models.
Can they be left up permanently?
No. The supplier describes them as temporary structures.
Which is better for markets?
The 3×3m model will often be the more convenient layout because 3×3m is a common market footprint, but always check the organiser’s actual site dimensions and anchoring rules.
Which is better beside a vehicle?
The 3.6×2.2m model can make sense where its narrower 2.2m width fits more comfortably beside a car, ute, caravan or campsite.
