JET-USA DX800 Diesel Pressure Washer
The DX800 adds a genuinely different power source and operating format to this JET-USA comparison.
Current supplier specifications identify it as model DX800, SKU PRWDSLJT800A. It uses a 418cc 10HP diesel engine driving a brass-head triplex pump.

3600 PSI Continuous vs 4000 PSI Maximum
The earlier DX800 draft treated 3600 PSI as the maximum pressure. Current specifications provide a clearer distinction:
- Continuous pressure: 3600 PSI
- Maximum pressure: 4000 PSI
This distinction matters when comparing pressure washers. A short-duration or maximum figure should not be compared directly with another machine’s continuous operating pressure.
The DX800 also has a published water flow of 17L/min, which is an important part of its overall cleaning capability.
There Is a Hose-Length Discrepancy
The current Edisons detailed specification and “in the box” list both state that the DX800 is supplied with a 15m steel-braided high-pressure hose.
However, the current product-page title contains a reference to a 20m hose.
Diesel Does Not Automatically Mean Better
The DX800 may make sense where diesel power, high water flow and independence from mains electricity are genuinely useful.
That does not mean diesel is automatically the best pressure-washer power source.
Compared with smaller electric machines, the DX800 introduces:
- 106kg machine weight
- diesel fuel storage and handling
- engine-oil and filter maintenance
- engine noise
- hot exhaust
- carbon-monoxide hazards
- greater storage requirements
For normal car washing or occasional domestic cleaning, a smaller machine may be much easier to store, move and control.
Engine Oil Must Be Added Before First Use
The manual also advises that the electric-start battery may arrive with some charge but should be charged before use.
Follow the manual supplied with the actual machine for oil specification, servicing intervals and battery procedures.
Carbon Monoxide: Outdoor Operation Only
The DX800 manual contains strong carbon-monoxide warnings.
The diesel engine should be operated in a well-ventilated outdoor location where exhaust gases can disperse.
Do not run it inside a:
- garage
- shed
- workshop
- warehouse
- carport or other enclosed/partly enclosed space where exhaust can accumulate
Opening doors or windows does not make indoor engine operation safe.
The manual also says to consider prevailing wind and air movement and keep exhaust away from building openings.
It specifies approximately 1.5m clearance around the machine, including overhead.
High-Pressure Injection Is a Medical Emergency
High-pressure water can penetrate skin and inject water, contamination or chemical material into underlying tissue.
The DX800 manual specifically warns that the pressure can cause serious injury or amputation.
WorkSafe Victoria also identifies skin penetration, injected contamination, flying debris and uncontrolled hoses or nozzles as major high-pressure-water-jetting hazards.
- Never point the lance towards a person or animal.
- Never test a high-pressure leak with your hand.
- Keep hands away from the nozzle and high-pressure stream.
- Inspect hoses and couplings before use.
- Only use hoses and accessories rated for the machine’s maximum pressure.
- Depressurise the system before disconnecting hoses or performing maintenance.
Surface Damage: Start Conservatively
A machine capable of 4000 PSI maximum pressure can damage unsuitable surfaces very quickly.
Risk depends on more than the machine’s pressure setting. It also depends on:
- nozzle angle
- distance from the surface
- water flow
- surface condition
- paint or coating condition
- material strength
Potentially vulnerable surfaces include:
- vehicle paint and trim
- soft timber
- weathered mortar
- painted surfaces
- rubber seals
- electrical components
- radiator and condenser fins
Start with the least aggressive suitable nozzle and greater distance, then test a small inconspicuous area before moving closer.
Never Pressure-Wash Asbestos Cement
If there is any possibility that an older roof, wall, fence or other cement-sheet product contains asbestos, identify the material and obtain appropriate advice before cleaning it.

The DX800 broadens this JET-USA comparison by adding a substantially larger diesel-powered machine.
Its useful specifications are not simply the word “commercial” or the biggest pressure number. The important figures are 3600 PSI continuous pressure, 4000 PSI maximum pressure and 17L/min water flow.
Its 418cc diesel engine, brass-head triplex pump, four-wheel chassis and 106kg weight put it in a very different category from the compact electric RX models.
Our recommendation: consider the DX800 where its high water flow, diesel power and outdoor mobility genuinely match the work. For normal household cleaning, vehicles or occasional use, one of the smaller JET-USA models is likely to be easier to control, move, store and maintain.
