ANOTHER DAY OF SCOUTING

I was attending a leadership training camp with the Boy Scouts of America when we were hit with one of the worst storms I've ever seen. I ran down the hill to meet with the rest of the group (me being the last of course) and was almost hit by a falling tree. I learned later that many trees had fallen that evening.

When I got there, there was a problem. Although we were under a wooden shelter, there was a large metal pop-up tent right next to us. It was a lightning storm, and I seemed to recall learning in science class about it not being a good idea to be too close to metal and electricity. The scout in charge told us to collapse the shelter. Due to previous abuse it was damaged and in order to stay up, needed to be slashed at several key points. Of course my Leatherman Surge was right there by my side. I used the serrated blade to slash the lashings and get the thing collapsed.

If it had not been for my Leatherman, we might have had some hair sticking up to this day. I convinced some of the others there to make an investment and they purchased Waves. Thank you.
